Mark grew up in Oxford, Mississippi and holds a BA in Business Administration with a minor in Psychology from the University of Mobile, a Master of Arts in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas and a Doctorate in Worship Studies with an emphasis on Ritual and Liturgics from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Lombard, Illinois. Mark was the Chaplain and Assistant Director of Community Life at the Baddour Center in Senatobia, Mississippi, prior to his call to FBC in July, 2002. The Baddour Center is a residential facility that serves approximately 180 adults diagnosed with mild to moderate mental retardation. He served as associate Minister for the Knollwood Baptist Church of Winston-Salem, North Carolina(1996-2000), the First Baptist Church of Sedalia, Missouri(1991-1996), and Associate Minister for Education and Youth at the North Irving Baptist Church in Irving, Texas(1988-1991).
He is a charter member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and has served as conference leader and speaker for numerous Christian Education conferences for the Missouri and North Carolina Baptist Conventions and the Alliance of Baptists.
Mark enjoys snow skiing, traveling, hunting, and tennis. His love for snow skiing has taken him to Vermont and New Hampshire on several occasions as a younger person. Mark and his wife, Laura, live in Nashua.
